 Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux at home

Admin (Mon-Pari-Sportif.com)  - A great French Ligue 1 double I reckon with two in-form teams Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux.

Saint-Etienne v Nice

Les Verts are back to their best following thrashing of Nancy (4-0) and Caen (1-3), sealing in the process their first away win of the season.

Nice couldn’t be looking any worse. They have not managed to win since January 20th, drawing 3 and losing 2 in the league, while crashing out of the French cup following a 2-0 win of minnows SCO Angers.

Antonetti will be looking for a win at his previous employer, but without Laslandes, Hognon, Yahaya, and Asamoah all out injured, things could be difficult for the Corsican coach. The hosts are at full strength and have their boiling Geoffroy Guichard stadium for support (8 wins in 12 games so far).

Verdict: St Etienne should be too strong at home. If they watch the little Ivory Coast player Kone, they should have too much for Antonetti today.

Girondins de Bordeaux v PSG

Tough game for PSG, who are still high from their League Cup final qualification (that will be against Lens), but have yet to prove anything in the league, Le Guen’s men still finding themselves on a uncomfortable 16th spot in the table.

And this relegation affair could get hotter, should the capital side fail to take any point from this Bordeaux encounter. Chantôme and Digard are still out for PSG, but the big loss will be Pauleta’s absence tonight, the veteran having proved critics wrong lately but picked up a thigh injury during the midweek game.

The Girondins have a few absentees themselves (Planus, Jussie, Diarra, Henrique), but the likes of in-form Cavenaghi, paired up with Bellion, Chamakh could be trouble for a PSG defense lacking confidence, I’m obviously talking Landreau here! The goalkeeper is the newly crowned king of blunders since Barthez and I’m betting he will lose his French international place to l’OM’s Steve Mandanda if he continues this run.

Verdict: No real choice for Laurent Blanc and his men, as Lyon won against Lille yesterday. Bordeaux to win.

Final thoughts: Odds way too high for Bordeaux here and les Verts looking strong at home. Great double @ 3.90.
