RC Strasbourg v St Etienne Preview
Admin (Mon-Pari-Sportif.com) - Here’s an interesting game of the French Ligue 1, with Strasbourg and St Etienne locking horns at the Meineau stadium in what should be a close encounter. Close for many reasons, both sides look very much similar in many ways. First of all, Strasbourg and St Etienne look both likely to spend the rest of the season in a similar fashion, i.e.fight off a place in the relegation zone. And performances/stats wise, they are almost identical, a 13th seat (29 points, 23 goals scored, 24 conceded, 8 wins) for les Verts and a 14th seat (29 points, 23 goals scored, 24 conceded, 7 wins) for the northern side bringing both two teams even closer to each other. Anyway, back to the drawing board and some decent facts about tomorrow’s game. St Etienne are without their influential goalkeeper Janot, and Loic Perrin, while Dabo and Landrin are suspended. Strasbourg are without Schneider and Gasmi, while Bellaid is suspended. One thing though, Renteria (who was included in the Colombian national squad which played Uruguay in a friendly two days ago) is being rested by Furlan. The south-American is however Strasbourg’s best scorer with 7 goals, and could be dearly missed tomorrow night. Les Verts’ away performances have been disastrous this season, but with Guinea’s Feindouno back from the ACN, an in-form Bate Gomis paired up with Ilan upfront, a surprising win from the visiting side would not be that surprising after all. Verdict: Advantage for the hosts, a draw is very much likely, but I’m going for a reverse of fortune for Roussey’s men and three points for St Etienne @ 3.50. Small stake though.
