Friday double: Legia and RKC

Admin (Mon-Pari-Sportif.com)  - I’ve opted for a double for this quiet Friday before the weekend’s big games, with a couple of squads more than favourites to take the three points tonight.

Zaglebie Sosnowiec v Legia Warszawa

Legia, current runners-up in the Polish top league, have not yet given up all hope to catch up with current-top-of-the-table Wisla Krakow, but as an 11-point gap separated both sides, mistakes should be avoided for the remainder of the season.

And that starts tonight, against lowly (actually bottom side) Zaglebie Sosnowiec, who have made the news more through awful statistics rather than through exquisite performances. With the worst defense of the league (36 goals conceded) and the third worst attack (only 13 goals scored), future does not look bright for the newly-promoted club, as relegation appears to be more than an option.

Meanwhile, Legia record the best defense of the league with only 9 goals conceded, and can count on a young Zimbabwean striker Takesure Chinyama, whose 11-goal-tally has yet to improve.

Verdict: Straight win for Legia here.

RKC Waalwijk - TOP Oss

RKC cost me money last week, as I backed them up to bounce back against bottom-of-the –league Cambuur Leeuwarden, but an uninspired performance handed the Dutch Jupiler League leaders a second consecutive domestic defeat (2-0), and allowed FC Zwolle to go back to level points with them thanks to a 1-2 win over FC Eindhoven.

Let’s hope RKC will avoid any further slip-up, for their own sake first of all as they have yet to make their promotion battle a won one, and for me also, as another lost bet would surely erase them from any further selection of mine...

Anyway, back to figures, RKC are lethal at home with 11 wins in 15 games, best attack overall with 69 goals scored, while Top Oss, currently 10th in the table, will be hoping their defense (6th worst of the league) can hold on to the hosts’ repeated attacks.

Point to note, most of the supporters of Top Oss will be boycotting tonight’s game, after feeling punished by an administrative dispute between them and the Waalwijk police department.

Verdict: Important game for RKC who will need not only 3 points to continue their march to promotion, but a reverse of fortune, following two setbacks.
