 Cups: Standard - Besiktas - Olympiakos
Admin (Mon-Pari-Sportif.com) - Let's take a quick look at the various cup games of the day, throughout Europe. 1. The return leg of the Belgian Cup quarter final between league title favourites Standard de Liege and Cercle de Brugge should be an interesting one. The Liege outfit got destroyed 4-1 in the first leg, and nothing but a comfy win from the home side would take them through. Standard are undefeated at home this season, and with such a catching up to do, they will be pushing hard to break a resilient Cercle Brugge defense. I don’t expect Standard to qualify (well you never know), but a home win is on the cards. 2. Similarly, Besiktas will have the same type of task ahead as the Istanbul giants take on 16th-placed Caykur Rizespor in the return leg of the Turkish Cup quarter final. The home side was left trailing by a goal after the first leg, but expect them to bounce back tonight and make it through to the semis. 3. Finally, Greek Super League giants Olympiakos welcome 12th-placed Iraklis for a single-leg Cup quarter final which should not be much of a problem for the Champions League contenders. I don’t expect Iraklis, one of the poorest attack of the league win away to the Athens giants and their Kovacevic, Djordjevic, & Lua Lua… Verdict: a decent Standard – Besiktas – Olympiakos treble @ 3.01.
