Borussia and RKC on the rebound?
Admin (Mon-Pari-Sportif.com) - Two sides on the rebound: Borussia Mönchengladbach v Erzgebirge Aue
Bundeliga 2 leaders Borussia Mönchengladbach host 4th-from-bottom Erzgebirge Aue with the will to take nothing but three points, having lost…let’s hear it: 12 points in the last 5 games (3D, 2L). Borussia have now Mainz (2 points), Greuther Furth (2), Koln (3), Freiburg (4) and you name it trailing by a few points, and things need to improve quickly for the favourites, would they want to keep their leader status for a few more days. Erzgebirge Aue sealed a couple of wins lately, a 3-1 victory against Kickers Offenbach, and more impressively a 6-0 thrashing of bottom side Paderborn, but those team are low in confidence and position. Verdict: Borussia to get their fingers out, and record some points against a lowly side. Rösler, Neuville and Friend are in demand of strikes there. Cambuur Leeuwarden v RKC Waalwijk Yet another David v Goliath encounter, as bottom club Cambuur Leeuwarden host Dutch Jupiler league leaders RKC Waalwijk on Friday night. As far as figures are concerned, no real surprise there, as RKC lead the attacking front with 69 goals, and are naturally one of the best defense with 36 goals conceded, while the bottom club has 38 scored and 56 conceded to its record. Similar uncertain faiths for both clubs though, as RKC, although huge favourites to make it back up to the Eredivisie at the end of the season after only one season in Jupiler league, have the likes of FC Zwolle, FC Volendam and FC Den Bosch breathing down their necks, while things look far from finished at the bottom, 6 clubs having from 26 to 31 points to their names. Form wise, RKC were looking brilliantly until last weekend and this 2-3 home defeat to FC Volendam, which again marked a disappointing result against direct opponents (following the 1-1 away to Den Bosch, and MVV Maastricht). But apart from this setback, RKC look indeed very good, having recorded a 10-undefeated run in the league before that. Cambuur Leeuwarden can’t win these days. Well, they have never really been able to this year. 6 victories in 26 games self-explain their bottom position, and expect them to suffer against leaders in demand of results and some bouncing back to do. Rick Hooijboer, Erik Wegh en Bennie van Noord are all missing for the hosts against a RKC side which extended Kevin Vink’s contract until 2010 yesterday. Verdict: it’s not the best of times for Cambuur Leeuwarden, a number of players having even been told no new contract would be presented by the club to them. The bottom side was beaten convincingly in the return fixture (6-3), I don’t see any improvements for them, as RKC want to win and increase the pressure at the top of the table. Final Thoughts: I am expecting those two to bounce back, and odds @ 2.21 do look good.
